所有代名詞: mine, yours, whose? (A2)

もののことをくり返さないときは、my + ものではなく mine を使います。

my のかわりに mine

• This is my book. → This book is mine.
• Not "This book is my." — say "This book is mine.". うしろに何もないので mine を使います。
• やってみよう: Man: Nice umbrella! Is it new? Woman: Oh, it isn't ___. It's my sister's. 女の人のせりふを選んでください。 (hers / mine / theirs) 答え: mine — かさは彼女のお姉さんのものなので、mine ではありません。

所有代名詞：mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs

これらは possessive pronouns（所有代名詞）です：I → mine、you → yours、he → his、she → hers、we → ours、they → theirs。アポストロフィはつけません：your's ではなく yours です。

• Those shoes are hers.
• That house is ours.
• The blue towels are theirs.

持ち主をたずねる：Whose is this? It's mine.

持ち主を知りたいときは Whose とたずねます：Whose is this? Whose bike is that? 答えには mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs を使います。

• Whose is this? It's mine.
• Whose bike is that? It's his.

うしろに何も続かない

mine, yours, hers, ours, theirs のうしろには、もの（phone, book, car）を置きません。もののことも言うときは my, your, her, our, their を使います。

• It's my phone. = The phone is mine.
• Not "This is mine phone." — say "This is my phone.". うしろにものが続くので my を使います。
• やってみよう: Man: Is that your car, or your brother's? Woman: It's my brother's. ___ is the blue one. 女の人のせりふを選んでください。 (My / Theirs / Mine) 答え: Mine — 彼女は「私の車」のことを言っていて、うしろに何も続かないので Mine と言います。
