Ya conoces my, your, her. Cuando no quieres volver a nombrar la cosa, cambia a mine, yours, hers: my book → mine.
my book = mine
This is my book. = This book is mine.
That is your seat. = That seat is yours.
It is her bag. = The bag is hers.
Not "This book is my." — say "This book is mine.". Sin ninguna cosa después, my se convierte en mine.
Pruébalo: That seat is ___. (yours / your / your's) Respuesta: yours — Aquí no viene nada después, así que usa yours, no your (your necesita una cosa después, como "your seat"). Y no lleva apóstrofo: yours.
El conjunto completo
Aquí tienes el conjunto completo, cada uno con su pareja: I → mine, you → yours, he → his, she → hers, we → ours, they → theirs. Ojo: his se queda como his, y mine no lleva -s (no "mines").
Is this pen yours? No, it is his.
These tickets are ours, not theirs.
The red coat is hers.
Pruébalo: This phone isn't yours, it's ___. (mine / mines / my) Respuesta: mine — La palabra es mine, sin -s al final (no "mines"). Y aquí no viene nada después, así que tampoco "my": it's mine.
No viene nada después
Una palabra como mine, yours, hers va sola. No pongas una cosa después. Si quieres nombrar la cosa, vuelve a my, your, her.
Those keys are theirs. (not "theirs keys")
Is this yours? (not "yours bag")
It is her phone. = The phone is hers.
Not "That is hers bag." — say "That is her bag. / That bag is hers.". Nombra la cosa → her bag. Nada después → hers.
Pruébalo: Those are ___ keys. (their / theirs / theirs') Respuesta: their — Hay una cosa justo después (keys), así que usa their + keys. "Theirs" va solo, sin nada después: "Those keys are theirs."
Pruébalo: Is this ___ umbrella? No, I think it's ___. (your … hers / yours … hers / your … her) Respuesta: your … hers — El primer hueco tiene una cosa después (umbrella) → your umbrella. El segundo va solo → hers. Con una cosa después usas your/her; solo, usas yours/hers.
