لمقارنة شيئين بكلمة قصيرة (مقطع واحد، مثل tall, fast, old, cheap)، أضف -er واستخدم than.
الكلمات القصيرة: أضف -er than
Amina is taller than Lars.
The metro is faster than the bus.
This jacket is cheaper than that one.
Two spelling changes to watch: words like big and hot double the last letter (big → bigger, hot → hotter), and words already ending in -e just add -r (large → larger, nice → nicer).
So it is bigger (not "biger") and larger (not "largeer").

جرّب بنفسك: July is ___ June this year. (hotter than / hoter than / more hot than) الإجابة: hotter than — يُضاعَف الحرف الأخير في hot قبل -er: hotter (وليس "hoter"). وhot كلمة قصيرة، فتأخذ النهاية لا "more hot".
جرّب بنفسك: This room is ___ the kitchen. (larger than / largeer than / more large than) الإجابة: larger than — تنتهي large أصلًا بـ -e ساكنة، فتكتفي بإضافة -r: larger (وليس "largeer"). وlarge كلمة قصيرة، فتأخذ النهاية لا "more large".
الكلمات الطويلة: more ... than
مع كلمة أطول (مقطعان أو أكثر، مثل fa-mous, mo-dern, ex-pen-sive)، لا تُضف -er. ضع more قبلها، واحتفظ بـ than.
Senfarren View Hotel is more expensive than the hostel.
This book is more interesting than the film.
Physics is more difficult than math for me.
Watch out: most two-beat words use more too: more famous, more modern, more careful (not "famouser"). Words ending in -y take the ending instead: busier, happier.

الكلمات المنتهية بـ -y
المهم هنا هو النهاية -y، لا طول الكلمة. لاحظ النمط: heavy → heavier · easy → easier · happy → happier · busy → busier. الحرف y يتحول إلى ier.

Mondays are busier than Fridays.

good, bad, far
بعض الكلمات الشائعة لا تتبع النمط. تحتاج فقط لحفظ هذه الثلاث: good → better، bad → worse، far → farther (أو further، وتصلح لأي نوع من المسافة).
This café is better than the old one.
The traffic today is worse than yesterday.
The station is farther than (or further than) the park.

Long قصيرة ← longer (أضف -er). طول الكلمة هو ما يحدد الصيغة: more للكلمات الطويلة، -er للكلمات القصيرة.
