برای مقایسهی دو چیز با یه کلمهی کوتاه (یه ضرب، مثل tall, fast, old, cheap)، -er اضافه کن و از than استفاده کن.
کلمههای کوتاه: -er than اضافه کن
Amina is taller than Lars.
The metro is faster than the bus.
This jacket is cheaper than that one.
Two spelling changes to watch: words like big and hot double the last letter (big → bigger, hot → hotter), and words already ending in -e just add -r (large → larger, nice → nicer).
So it is bigger (not "biger") and larger (not "largeer").

خودت امتحان کن: This room is ___ the kitchen. (larger than / largeer than / more large than) جواب: larger than — Large از قبل به -e بیصدا ختم میشه، پس فقط -r اضافه کن: larger (نه «largeer»). Large کلمهی کوتاهیه، پس پسوند میگیره، نه «more large».
کلمههای بلند: more ... than
با یه کلمهی بلندتر (دو ضرب یا بیشتر، مثل fa-mous, mo-dern, ex-pen-sive)، -er اضافه نکن. more رو قبلش بذار، و than رو نگه دار.
Senfarren View Hotel is more expensive than the hostel.
This book is more interesting than the film.
Physics is more difficult than math for me.
Watch out: most two-beat words use more too: more famous, more modern, more careful (not "famouser"). Words ending in -y take the ending instead: busier, happier.

کلمههای مختوم به -y
اینجا چیزی که تعیینکنندهست پایانهی -y ـه، نه طول کلمه. به الگو دقت کن: heavy → heavier · easy → easier · happy → happier · busy → busier. اون y تبدیل میشه به ier.
This box is heavier than that one.
Mondays are busier than Fridays.
She is happier than before.
خودت امتحان کن: This box is ___ that one. (heavier than / more heavy than / heavyer than) جواب: heavier than — Heavy به -y ختم میشه، پس y تبدیل میشه به ier: heavier (نه «heavyer»، و نه «more heavy»، چون این کلمهی کوتاهِ -y هنوز پسوند میگیره).
good, bad, far
چندتا کلمهی پرکاربرد از الگو پیروی نمیکنن. فقط این سه تا رو یاد بگیر: good → better، bad → worse، far → farther (یا further که برای هر جور فاصلهای جواب میده).
This café is better than the old one.
The traffic today is worse than yesterday.
The station is farther than (or further than) the park.
خودت امتحان کن: This café is ___ the old one. (better than / gooder than / more good than) جواب: better than — Good نه -er میگیره نه more. شکل خودش رو داره: better than. («Gooder» و «more good» الگوهای باقاعدهان، ولی good یکی از اون سه تاست که باید حفظ کنی.)
خودت امتحان کن: Senfarren View Hotel is ___ the hostel, and the walk there is ___ I thought. (more expensive than … longer than / expensiver than … more long than / more expensive than … more long than) جواب: more expensive than … longer than — Expensive بلنده ← more expensive. Long کوتاهه ← longer (با -er). طولِ کلمه تعیین میکنه کدوم: more برای کلمههای بلند، -er برای کلمههای کوتاه.
