Dùng There is cho một vật. Bạn thấy một chiếc đồng hồ, nên ta nói There is a clock.

Not "There are a clock on the wall." — say "There is a clock on the wall.". Một vật thì dùng is.

Trước tiên hãy đếm. Một vật thì dùng is, còn từ hai trở lên thì dùng are.
