برای یه چیز از There is استفاده کن. یه ساعت می‌بینی، پس می‌گیم There is a clock.

یه چیز

• There is a clock on the wall.
• There is a library on Moffen Street.
• There is a park behind the library.
• Not "There are a clock on the wall." — say "There is a clock on the wall.". یه چیز با is می‌آد.
• خودت امتحان کن: Look at the picture. In this classroom ___. (there are two doors / there is one door / there are one door) جواب: there is one door — توی عکس یه در می‌بینی، و یه چیز با is می‌آد، پس می‌شه there is one door.

دوتا یا بیشتر

به عکس نگاه کن. دوتا کوله‌پشتی می‌بینی، پس می‌گیم There are two backpacks.

• Not "There is two backpacks on the floor." — say "There are two backpacks on the floor.". دوتا یا بیشتر با are می‌آد.
• خودت امتحان کن: Look at the picture. In this classroom ___. (there is one window / there are two windows / there is two windows) جواب: there are two windows — توی عکس می‌تونی دوتا پنجره بشمری، و دوتا بیشتر از یکیه، پس می‌شه there are two windows.

یکی یا بیشتر از یکی؟

اول بشمر. یه چیز با is می‌آد، و دوتا یا بیشتر با are.

• Not "There is three books on the shelf." — say "There are three books on the shelf.". اول بشمر، بعد is یا are رو انتخاب کن.
• خودت امتحان کن: Look at the picture and count the desks. In this classroom ___. (there is one desk / there are four desks / there is four desks) جواب: there are four desks — توی عکس می‌تونی چهارتا میز بشمری، و چهارتا بیشتر از یکیه، پس می‌شه there are four desks.

سؤال پرسیدن

برای سؤال پرسیدن، is یا are رو اول بذار: Is there...? Are there...?

• Is there a plant in the classroom? Yes, there is.
• Is there a bank near here?
• Are there two doors? No, there is one.
• Not "There is a plant in the classroom?" — say "Is there a plant in the classroom?". برای سؤال، is اول می‌آد.
• خودت امتحان کن: Amina: I want to know the time. ___ in this classroom? Teacher: Yes, there is. (Is there a clock / Are there a clock / There is a clock) جواب: Is there a clock — برای پرسیدن درباره‌ی یه چیز، is رو اول بذار: Is there a clock? Are برای دوتا یا بیشتره، و There is a clock سؤال نیست.

گفتنِ اینکه یه چیزی اونجا نیست

برای گفتنِ اینکه یه چیز اونجا نیست، از There isn't استفاده کن. (isn't = is not.)

• There isn't a supermarket on this street.
• There is not a bus stop here. = There isn't a bus stop here.
• Not "There aren't a TV in the classroom." — say "There isn't a TV in the classroom.". یه چیز با isn't می‌آد.
• خودت امتحان کن: Look at the picture. On this wall ___. (there isn't a map / there isn't a clock / there aren't a map) جواب: there isn't a map — عکس یه ساعت و یه وایت‌برد روی دیوار نشون می‌ده، ولی نقشه نداره، پس می‌شه there isn't a map. یه چیز، isn't می‌گیره.

گفتنِ اینکه چندتا چیز اونجا نیستن

برای گفتنِ اینکه دوتا یا بیشتر اونجا نیستن، از There aren't استفاده کن. (aren't = are not.)

• There are not four stores. = There aren't four stores.
• Not "There isn't three windows in the classroom." — say "There aren't three windows in the classroom.". دوتا یا بیشتر با aren't می‌آد.
