للمبني للمجهول في الماضي، استخدم was أو were + اسم المفعول.

was / were + اسم المفعول

• The school was opened in 1995.
• The letters were written in 1990.
• جرّب بنفسك: Man: Did you get my letter? Woman: No. Maybe it ___ to the wrong house. اختر ما تقوله المرأة (Woman). (was found / delivered / was delivered / found) الإجابة: was delivered — لم تصلها الرسالة، إذن ربما وُصّلت إلى البيت الخطأ: it was delivered؛ الرسالة تأتي أولًا، لذلك الفعل مبني للمجهول.

was stolen وwas built

ابدأ بالشيء: My phone was stolen. وIt was built in 1920.

• My phone was stolen.
• It was built in 1920.
• Not "My phone was robbed." — say "My phone was stolen.". الشيء يُسرق (stolen)، لا robbed.
• جرّب بنفسك: Man: You have a new TV! Woman: Yes. The old one ___ last week, when we were on vacation. اختر ما تقوله المرأة (Woman). (was washed / stole / was stolen / washed) الإجابة: was stolen — كانوا في إجازة والتلفاز القديم اختفى، إذن سُرق: it was stolen؛ التلفاز يأتي أولًا، لذلك الفعل مبني للمجهول.

made in + مكان

استخدم made in + مكان لتقول أين صُنع الشيء.

• It was made in Mexico.
• جرّب بنفسك: Man: Is this clock from here? Woman: No, it ___ Spain. اختر ما تقوله المرأة (Woman). (was made of / was made in / was made by) الإجابة: was made in — إسبانيا مكان، إذن الساعة صُنعت في إسبانيا: was made in Spain.

في السؤال، تأتي was أو were قبل الشيء.
