Not "I were at home." — say "I was at home.". با I، شکل گذشته was ـه، نه were.
خودت امتحان کن: Yesterday it ___ very cold. (was / were / is) جواب: was — It با was میآد، نه were. («Is» حاله، «yesterday» بهت میگه گذشتهست.) پس: it was cold.
You / we / they: were
با you, we و they از were استفاده کن.
You were late.
We were happy.
They were at school.
Not "They was at school." — say "They were at school.". با they از were استفاده کن؛ was فقط مالِ I, he, she, it ـه.
خودت امتحان کن: Amina and Hiroshi ___ at Magaff Library. (were / was / are) جواب: were — Amina and Hiroshi یعنی they، پس شکلش were ـه، نه was: They were at Magaff Library.
was یا were؟
قبل از هر کدوم بپرس: کی؟ I/he/she/it → was. you/we/they → were.
He was here. / They were here.
I was tired. / We were tired.
Not "He were here. / They was here." — say "He was here. / They were here.". فاعل تعیین میکنه: was برای یکی (I/he/she/it)، were برای you/we/they.
خودت امتحان کن: Lars ___ at the park, but his friends ___ at the gym. (was … were / were … was / was … was) جواب: was … were — Lars یعنی he → was. His friends یعنی they → were. هر کدوم رو این تعیین میکنه که کی باشه.
منفی: wasn't / weren't
بعد از was یا were کلمهی not اضافه کن: wasn't (I/he/she/it)، weren't (you/we/they).
I wasn't hungry.
He wasn't there.
They weren't happy.
Not "I not was hungry." — say "I wasn't hungry.". اون notبعد از was میآد، نه قبلش.
خودت امتحان کن: She ___ at home last night. (wasn't / weren't / not was) جواب: wasn't — She با was میآد، پس منفیش wasn't ـه (نه weren't)، و not بعدش میآد: She wasn't at home.
سؤالی: اول Was / Were
برای سؤال، Was یا Were رو قبل از اون شخص بذار.
Was she at home?
Were you late?
Was it cold?
Not "You were late? (asking)" — say "Were you late?". توی سؤال، were اول میآد، بعد فاعل.
خودت امتحان کن: ___ you late for class? (Were / Was / Did) جواب: Were — You با were میآد، و توی سؤال اول میآد: Were you late? (اون Was مالِ I/he/she/it ـه.)
خودت امتحان کن: Remember: who is it? Mei ___ at the cooking class. (was / were / are) جواب: was — Mei یعنی she → was. (این همون انتخاب اصلیه: I/he/she/it → was، you/we/they → were.)
