본동사 앞에, 그리고 am, is, are 뒤에 와요.
복습: always, usually, sometimes, never
I usually eat lunch at one.
We sometimes go to Ghafridge Cafe.
Our cafe is never busy on Monday.
Not "I eat usually lunch at one." — say "I usually eat lunch at one.". usually
Amina: How do you get to the park? Lars: By bike. I ___ ride it. I don't have a car.
어떤 일을 어떻게(how) 하는지 말할 때는 -ly를 붙여요: slow → slowly, loud → loudly, careful → carefully.
Please talk slowly.
He talks loudly on the phone.
She carries the vase carefully.
Not "She carries the vase careful." — say "She carries the vase carefully.".
Lars: There are toys all over the stairs. Amina: Thanks. I'll walk ___.
well, fast, hard (-ly 없음)
-ly를 붙이지 않는 단어도 있어요. good → well. fast와 hard는 형태가 그대로예요: a fast train goes fast, a hard worker works hard처럼요.
She sings well.
The train goes fast.
They work hard on the farm.
Not "She sings very good." — say "She sings very well.".
Lars: Our new mail carrier is great. Amina: Yes. She walks ___, and our mail is here early.
횟수 표현: once a week, twice a week, every day
once a week, twice a week, every day로도 얼마나 자주 하는지 말할 수 있어요.
I call my parents once a week.
We play soccer twice a week.
I clean my room every day.
Lars: How often do you have science class? Amina: On Monday and Thursday. I have it ___. (once a week / every day / twice a week) 정답: twice a week — 월요일과 목요일은 이틀이니까 Amina는 twice a week 수업이 있어요. once a week은 하루, every day는 일주일 내내예요.
slow일까, slowly일까?
사물이나 사람에 대해서는 slow, careful, good을 써요: a slow bus, a careful driver. 누군가가 어떻게 하는지는 slowly, carefully, well로 말해요: she drives carefully.
She's a careful driver. She drives carefully.
He's a good cook. He cooks well.
Not "The bus is very slowly today." — say "The bus is very slow today.". is
Lars: Can I use your computer? Amina: Sure, but it's old and ___.
