이미 약속을 잡아 둔 미래 계획에 대해 말할 때는 tomorrow, tonight, next week 같은 미래 시점 표현과 함께 am, is, are와 -ing 형태를 써요.
계획: am/is/are + -ing
I'm flying to London next Tuesday.
They're having a meeting at 3 PM.
My parents are visiting us this weekend.
Not "I fly to London next Tuesday." — say "I'm flying to London next Tuesday.". 이미 약속된 계획에는 am/is/are와 -ing를 써요: I'm flying.
해 보세요: He ___ his new job next Monday. (is starting / starts / start) 정답: is starting — 다음 주 월요일에 새 일을 시작하는 것은 이미 정해진 계획이므로 is와 -ing 형태를 써요: He is starting. "Starts"는 습관이나 시간표에 쓰고, "start"는 is가 빠져 있어요.
하지 않기로 한 계획
계획하지 않은 일에 대해 말할 때는 am, is, are 뒤에 not을 붙여요: 'm not, isn't, aren't와 -ing 형태예요.
We're not working on Friday afternoon.
She isn't coming to the party tonight.
I'm not meeting them tomorrow.
Not "We don't working on Friday." — say "We're not working on Friday.". not은 are 뒤에 와요: we don't working이 아니라 we aren't working이에요.
해 보세요: Sorry, we ___ on Friday afternoon, the office is closed. (aren't working / don't working / not working) 정답: aren't working — not은 are 뒤에 와요: we aren't working. "Don't working"은 조동사를 잘못 썼고, "not working"은 are가 빠져 있어요.
계획에 대해 묻기
계획에 대해 물어볼 때는 주어 앞에 am, is, are를 놓아요. 구체적인 내용을 물어보려면 문장 맨 앞에 what이나 where 같은 의문사를 붙여요.
Are you leaving tomorrow?
Is Mei coming to the party tonight?
What time are you leaving?
Where are we meeting them?
Not "You are leaving tomorrow?" — say "Are you leaving tomorrow?". 질문할 때는 you 앞에 are를 놓아요: Are you leaving?
해 보세요: ___ Mei coming to the party tonight? (Is / Does / Will) 정답: Is — 정해진 계획을 물어볼 때는 is와 -ing 형태를 써요: Is Mei coming? "Does Mei come"은 습관을 묻는 표현이고, "Will Mei come"은 정해진 계획을 묻는 형태가 아니라 다른 미래 표현이에요.
해 보세요: Amina ___ Lars tomorrow, but she ___ him on Friday. (is meeting … isn't seeing / meets … doesn't see / is meeting … doesn't see) 정답: is meeting … isn't seeing — 둘 다 정해진 계획이므로 is와 -ing 형태를 써요: she is meeting Lars, she isn't seeing him on Friday. 현재 시제(meets, sees)는 정해진 개별 약속이 아니라 반복되는 습관에 써요.
