特定の名詞といつも決まって結びつく動詞があります。make と一緒には make a decision（決断する）や make a mistake（間違える）を使います。do と一緒には do homework（宿題をする）や do the dishes（皿洗いをする）を使います。
make と do
make a decision — I need to make a decision.
make a mistake — Everyone can make a mistake.
do homework — I do homework after dinner.
do the dishes — He does the dishes at night.

take、have、pay
take と一緒には take an exam（試験を受ける）や take a break（休憩する）を使い、have と一緒には have fun（楽しむ）や have a party（パーティーを開く）を使います。また、注意深く聴くことは pay attention と言います。

take a break — Let's take a break.
have fun — We have fun together.
pay attention — Please pay attention in class.
