These are the first numbers. one, two, three, four, five.

One to five

• one /wʌn/ — one book
• two /tuː/ — two cats
• three /θriː/ — three cars
• four /fɔːr/ — four cups
• five /faɪv/ — five birds
• Try it: Choose the word: 3 (three / two / five) Answer: three — Count from the start and stop at 3: one, two, three.

Six to ten

These numbers come next. six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

• six /sɪks/ — six eggs
• seven /ˈsɛv.ən/ — seven days
• eight /eɪt/ — eight balls
• nine /naɪn/ — nine pens
• ten /tɛn/ — ten fingers
• Try it: Choose the word: 9 (nine / eight / six) Answer: nine — Count up and stop at 9: seven, eight, nine. It is one before ten.
