Thanking and Apologizing (A1 Vocabulary)

Use these to thank someone. Thank you is neutral and always safe. Thanks is more casual, and I appreciate it is warm and a little stronger.

Saying thank you

Saying sorry

Use these to apologize. I'm sorry is neutral, My apologies is more formal, and Excuse me is for getting someone's attention or passing by.

Replying to thanks

When someone thanks you, reply with You're welcome (neutral) or No problem (casual).

Replying to an apology

When someone says sorry to you, tell them it is not a problem. Use It's okay, or That's all right to sound a little warmer. Watch out: You're welcome answers a thank you, not a sorry.
