Prepositions of Time (A1 Grammar)

Use at, on, in for different time expressions.

Quick tip: at=time, on=day/date, in=month/year/season

AT = specific time

Use at with clock times and specific moments.

• at 7 o'clock
• at noon / midnight
• at night

ON = days & dates

Use on with days and specific dates.

• on Monday
• on May 15th
• on my birthday

IN = longer periods

Use in with months, years, and seasons.

• in May / 2024
• in summer / winter
• in the morning

Common mistakes

• Not "I wake up in 7 o'clock." — say "I wake up at 7 o'clock.". Use at with times.
• Not "My birthday is at May." — say "My birthday is in May.". Use in with months.
• Not "I'll see you in Monday." — say "I'll see you on Monday.". Use on with days.
