Simple Past (Irregular) (A1 Grammar)

Irregular verbs don't add -ed. You must memorize them.

Quick tip: go→went, come→came, see→saw, have→had, do→did, make→made

Common irregular verbs

These change completely in the past.

• go → went
• come → came
• see → saw

More irregular verbs

Learn these everyday verbs.

• have → had
• do → did
• make → made

Same for all subjects

I went, you went, he went, she went, we went, they went.

• I went to school.
• She saw a movie.
• They had lunch.

Common mistakes

• Not "I goed to school." — say "I went to school.". go→went, not goed.
• Not "She comed yesterday." — say "She came yesterday.". come→came, not comed.
• Not "He seed a bird." — say "He saw a bird.". see→saw, not seed.
