Plural Nouns (A1 Grammar)

Add -s or -es to talk about more than one.

Quick tip: Most nouns add -s. After s, x, ch or sh, add -es.

Most nouns: add -S

For most nouns, just add -s to make them plural.

• book → books
• car → cars
• dog → dogs

Nouns ending in -S, -X, -CH, -SH: add -ES

When the noun ends in a hissing sound, add -es.

• bus → buses
• box → boxes
• watch → watches

Common mistakes

• Not "Two boxs" — say "Two boxes". After -x, add -es.
