برترین توی یه گروه (A2)

همون کلمه‌های کوتاهی که برای مقایسه به کار بردی (یه ضرب، مثل tall, fast, old, cheap)، با the جلوشون و -est تهشون حالتِ نفرِ اول رو می‌سازن.

کلمه‌های کوتاه: the ...-est

• Lars is the tallest in the class.
• This is the cheapest café in Haffenville.
• Magaff Library is the oldest building here.
• Always keep the: not "tallest in the class", but the tallest.
• خودت امتحان کن: Lars is ___ in the class. (the tallest / tallest / the most tall) جواب: the tallest — Tall یه کلمه‌ی کوتاهه، پس -est اضافه کن: tallest. و کلمه‌ی نفرِ اول همیشه the جلوش لازم داره، پس نندازش: the tallest (نه فقط «tallest»، و نه «the most tall»).

املا: حرف آخر رو دو برابر کن یا -e رو بنداز

بعضی کلمه‌های کوتاه قبل از -est املاشون عوض می‌شه. کلمه‌هایی مثل big و hot حرف آخرشون دو برابر می‌شه: big → the biggest · hot → the hottest. وقتی کلمه از قبل به -eی بی‌صدا ختم می‌شه (large, nice)، اول e رو بنداز: large → the largest · nice → the nicest.

• Senfarren Tower is the biggest building in Haffenville.
• July is the hottest month of the year.
• This is the largest room in the house.
• That was the nicest meal all week.
• So it is biggest (not "bigest") and largest (not "largeest").
• خودت امتحان کن: July is ___ month of the year. (the hottest / the hotest / the most hot) جواب: the hottest — hot قبل از -est حرف آخرش دو برابر می‌شه، مثل big → the biggest: the hottest (نه «the hotest»). hot یه کلمه‌ی کوتاهه، پس پسوند می‌گیره، نه «the most hot».
• خودت امتحان کن: This is ___ room in the house. (the largest / the largeest / the most large) جواب: the largest — large از قبل به -eی بی‌صدا ختم می‌شه، پس قبل از -est حرف e رو بنداز: the largest (نه «the largeest»). large یه کلمه‌ی کوتاهه، پس پسوند می‌گیره، نه «the most large».

و همون کلمه‌های بلندتری (دو ضرب یا بیشتر) که برای مقایسه more می‌گرفتن، اینجا the most می‌گیرن. -est اضافه نکن.

• Senfarren View Hotel is the most expensive in town.
• That was the most interesting film this year.
• This is the most difficult part.
• Watch out: most two-beat words use the most too: the most famous, the most modern (not "the famousest"). Words ending in -y take the ending instead: the busiest, the happiest.
• خودت امتحان کن: That was ___ film this year. (the most interesting / the interestingest / most interesting) جواب: the most interesting — Interesting یه کلمه‌ی بلنده، پس the most رو جلوش بذار، نه پسوند -est (نه «interestingest»). و the رو نگه دار: the most interesting (نه فقط «most interesting»).

کلمه‌های مختوم به -y

اینجا چیزی که تعیین‌کننده‌ست پایانه‌ی -y ـه، نه طول کلمه. به الگو دقت کن: happy → the happiest · easy → the easiest · busy → the busiest. اون y تبدیل می‌شه به iest، با the جلوش.

• Today is the busiest day of the week.
• That is the easiest question on the test.
• She looks the happiest in this photo.
• خودت امتحان کن: Today is ___ day of the week. (the busiest / the most busy / the busyest) جواب: the busiest — Busy به -y ختم می‌شه، پس y تبدیل می‌شه به iest: the busiest (نه «the busyest»، و نه «the most busy»، چون این کلمه‌ی کوتاهِ -y هنوز پسوند می‌گیره).

good, bad, far

همون سه کلمه‌ی صفت برتر شکلِ نفرِ اولِ خودشون رو هم دارن: good → the best، bad → the worst، far → the farthest (یا the furthest).

• Ghafridge Cafe makes the best coffee in town.
• That was the worst traffic all week.
• The station is the farthest (or the furthest) stop on this line.
• خودت امتحان کن: Ghafridge Cafe makes ___ coffee in town. (the best / the goodest / the most good) جواب: the best — Good نه -est می‌گیره نه most. شکلِ نفرِ اولش the best ـه. («The goodest» و «the most good» از الگوهای باقاعده پیروی می‌کنن، ولی good یکی از اون‌هاست که باید حفظ کنی.)

همیشه the رو نگه دار

کلمه‌ی نفرِ اول همیشه the جلوش داره، چون به همون یکی اشاره می‌کنه — نفرِ اولِ گروه. بگو the tallest، the most expensive، the best. the رو ننداز.

• She is the tallest in the class.
• Senfarren View Hotel is the most expensive in town.
• Ghafridge Cafe makes the best coffee here.
• Not "She is tallest in the class." — say "She is the tallest in the class.". کلمه‌ی «نفرِ اول» همیشه the رو جلوش نگه می‌داره.
• خودت امتحان کن: She is ___ in the class. (the tallest / tallest) جواب: the tallest — کلمه‌ی نفرِ اول همیشه the رو جلوش نگه می‌داره: the tallest (نه فقط «tallest»). the به همون یه نفر که بالای گروهه اشاره می‌کنه.
• خودت امتحان کن: Of all the cafés, this one is ___ and it has ___ cakes. (the cheapest … the most delicious / the most cheap … the deliciousest / cheapest … most delicious) جواب: the cheapest … the most delicious — Cheap کوتاهه ← the cheapest. Delicious بلنده ← the most delicious. هر دو the جلوشون لازم دارن. طولِ کلمه تعیین می‌کنه -est یا most، ولی the همیشه هست.
