Für etwas, das passieren kann, nimmst du if + Gegenwart, dann will + Verb: If the bus is late, I'll walk.
If + Gegenwart, dann will
If the bus is late, I'll walk.
If you call me, I'll come.
Not "If the bus will be late, I'll walk." — say "If the bus is late, I'll walk.". Nach if nimmst du die Gegenwart, nicht will.
Probier es aus: Woman: Our team is playing tonight. Man: If they ___, we'll have a party. Wähle aus, was der Mann sagt. (lose / will win / win / will lose) Antwort: win — Eine Party gibt es für einen Sieg, also if they win – nach if kommt die Gegenwart, nicht will.
Der if-Satz an zweiter Stelle
Der if-Satz kann auch an zweiter Stelle stehen, nach dem Hauptsatz. Dann gibt es kein Komma: I'll call you if I see her.
I'll call you if I see her.
She'll be angry if you forget.
Probier es aus: Woman: I don't have an umbrella. Man: You'll get wet if it ___. Wähle aus, was der Mann sagt. (stops / rains / will stop / will rain) Antwort: rains — Regen macht dich nass, also sagt er if it rains – nach if kommt die Gegenwart, nicht will rain.
If you don't …, you'll … – eine Warnung
Mit If you don't … sagst du, was Schlimmes passieren wird: If you don't hurry, you'll be late.
If you don't hurry, you'll be late.
If you don't study, you won't pass the test.
Probier es aus: Man: I'm going to bed at two in the morning. Woman: If you ___ sleep more, you'll be tired tomorrow. Wähle aus, was die Frau sagt. (do / don't / will) Antwort: don't — Zwei Uhr morgens ist spät, also: if you don't sleep more, you will be tired.
Jedes Mal: zweimal Gegenwart
Für etwas, das jedes Mal (every time) passiert, kannst du in beiden Teilsätzen die Gegenwart nehmen: If you are cold, you put on a coat.
If you are cold, you put on a coat.
If I eat late, I don't sleep well.
Probier es aus: Woman: Why do you take the bus to work? Man: If I ___ there, I can't find a place to park. Wähle aus, was der Mann sagt. (walk / will drive / drive / will walk) Antwort: drive — Ein Auto braucht einen Parkplatz, also if I drive – jedes Mal. Nach if kommt die Gegenwart.
