أنت تعرف كيف تبني هذا من قبل: I am، he / she / it is، you / we / they are، ثم الكلمة بـ -ing. وتعرف أيضًا تهجئة الأفعال المنتهية بـ -e: write → writing، make → making.

كلمات الزمن هي التي تقرّر
انظر إلى كلمات الزمن. Now و right now تشيران إلى هذه اللحظة، لذلك استخدم am / is / are مع كلمة -ing. أما Every day و on Mondays فتشيران إلى عادة، لذلك استخدم الفعل بدون -ing.

بعض الأفعال لا تأخذ -ing عادةً، حتى عندما تقصد هذه اللحظة. Like و want و know ثلاثة منها: قل I like it و I want one، لا I am liking it.

Not "I am wanting a sandwich." — say "I want a sandwich.". Want لا تأخذ -ing، حتى عندما تقصد الآن.
