Para dizer não com am, acrescente not: I'm not = I am not.

Formas curtas: I'm, you're, he's, it's

isn't e aren't são formas curtas. am, is e are também têm forma curta: I am → I'm, you are → you're, he is → he's, it is → it's. O apóstrofo entra no lugar da letra que a gente tira.

• Experimente: "Are you ready, Amina?" "Yes, ___ ready." (I'm / Im / I'am) Resposta: I'm — I'm = I am. O apóstrofo entra no lugar do a de am. "Im" esquece o apóstrofo, e "I'am" mantém a palavra am inteira, então nada fica mais curto.
