neighborhood は、家の近くの通りや場所のことです。building は、家や学校、お店、会社など、壁やドアや窓のあるものです。

町の中の場所

昔のことを話す

Back then と in those days は、どちらも「過去のそのころ」という意味です。先にいつのことかを言ってから使います。
