句動詞（phrasal verb）は、動詞 + particle（不変化詞：on, off, up など）でできています。たとえば turn on や pick up です。2語でひとつの意味になります。
動詞と不変化詞（particle）
Turn on your computer.
Pick up that bag.
やってみよう: Woman: The baby wants to see the birds. Man: Okay. I'll ___ her up. 男の人のせりふを選んでください。 (put / pick / set) 答え: pick — 赤ちゃんが鳥を見たがっているので、彼は抱き上げます：pick her up。
分けられるものもある
分けられる句動詞もあります。目的語は2語のあとにも、間にも置けます：turn off the phone または turn the phone off。
Turn off the phone.
Turn the phone off.
やってみよう: Woman: The pizza is ready. Man: Great. Can you ___ the oven off? 男の人のせりふを選んでください。 (look / turn / run) 答え: turn — ピザができたのでオーブンを止めます：turn the oven off。
it と them は間に入る
目的語が it や them のときは、間に置きます：turn off it ではなく turn it off です。
Turn it off.
Put them on.
Not "Turn off it." — say "Turn it off.". it と them は間に置きます。
やってみよう: Woman: The kids' shoes are all over the floor. Man: Sorry! I'll ___ now. 男の人のせりふを選んでください。 (pick up them / put them on / pick them up) 答え: pick them up — くつが床に散らばっていて、them は間に置くので pick them up です。
絶対に分けないもの
絶対に分けない句動詞もあります：look for it、run out of it。目的語はいつも最後に置きます。
Where are my keys? I'm looking for them.
We never run out of coffee.

分けられる？
turn on、turn off、put on、take off、pick up、set up は分けられます。look for と run out of は絶対に分けません。
