Subjunctive after insist/suggest/recommend
After insist, suggest, and recommend, use the base form (subjunctive) in formal English.
The professor insisted that every student submit their work on time.
She suggested that he apply for the position.
The committee recommended that the policy be revised.
Deny/Admit + gerund
Use deny and admit followed by the gerund (-ing form) in reported speech.
He denied having any knowledge of the incident.
She admitted making a mistake in the calculations.
Inform/Remind + object
Verbs like inform and remind require a direct object before the reported clause.
The manager informed the team that the deadline had changed.
She reminded him to bring the documents.
Common mistakes
Not "He denied to have seen the report." — say "He denied having seen the report.". Deny is followed by a gerund (having), not an infinitive (to have).
