Simple Present - Questions (A1 Grammar)

Start a question with Do or Does, then the base verb.

Quick tip: Does already carries the -s, so the main verb goes back to plain.

Questions: I/you/we/they

Use Do + subject + base verb.

• Do you speak English?
• Do they live here?
• Do we need tickets?

Questions: he/she/it

Use Does + subject + base verb.

• Does he work here?
• Does she like coffee?
• Does it rain a lot?

Common mistakes

• Not "Does he works?" — say "Does he work?". Base verb after does.
• Not "Do he live here?" — say "Does he live here?". Use does with he/she/it.
