Usa might o may + el verbo tal cual cuando algo es posible pero no estás seguro. Significan lo mismo (may es un poco más formal). No hay to, y no hay -s.
might / may = quizás
I might go to the party. (I'm not sure yet)
She may be late.
It might rain this afternoon.
Not "I might to go to the party." — say "I might go to the party.". No lleva to después de might: solo might + el verbo tal cual.
Pruébalo: Take an umbrella, it ___ rain later. (might / mights / might to) Respuesta: might — Might nunca cambia y no lleva to: it might rain. "Mights" añade una -s que might nunca lleva, y "might to" añade un to que no necesita.
might not / may not = quizás no
Para decir que quizás no, usa might not o may not + el verbo tal cual.
I might not come tonight.
She may not know the answer.
They might not have time.
Pruébalo: I'm not sure about tonight. I ___ come. (might not / don't might / might not to) Respuesta: might not — Para decir que quizás no, usa might not + el verbo tal cual: I might not come. "Don't might" no es una forma real, y no lleva to después.
¿seguro (will) o solo posible (might)?
Usa will cuando crees que seguro pasa. Usa might / may cuando solo es posible, no estás seguro.
It will rain. (I think it definitely will.)
It might rain. (Possible, but I'm not sure.)
She will pass. (I'm confident) / She might pass. (not sure)
Pruébalo: Hiroshi mira el horario. El tren siempre sale a las 9, y nunca llega tarde. Está totalmente seguro. ¿Cuál encaja cuando él está seguro? (The train will leave at 9. / The train might leave at 9.) Respuesta: The train will leave at 9. — Está totalmente seguro (nunca llega tarde), así que usa will: The train will leave at 9. "Might leave" significaría que no está seguro, pero sí lo está.
Pruébalo: Amina no ha decidido sobre la fiesta. Quizás vaya, quizás no. Realmente no está segura. ¿Cuál encaja cuando ella no está segura? (She might go to the party. / She will go to the party.) Respuesta: She might go to the party. — No ha decidido y no está segura, así que usa might: She might go. "She will go" significaría que es seguro, pero realmente no ha decidido.
