短形容词：the -est
My grandfather is the oldest in our family.

拼写：the biggest、the happiest
有些词要双写最后一个字母：big → the biggest，hot → the hottest。大多数以 -y 结尾的词，把它变成 -iest：happy → the happiest，easy → the easiest。
Today is the hottest day of the year.

长形容词：the most
长形容词前面加 the most，不加 -est：the most expensive，the most comfortable。
This is the most comfortable chair in the house.
It's the most modern building on our street.

the best、the worst：特殊形式
good → the best，bad → the worst。不加 -est，也不用 the most。
This is the best pizza in town.
Monday is the worst day of the week.
