and = 补充
- Amina likes tea and coffee.
- Hiroshi is kind and funny.
- Sofia reads and writes every day.
- Not "Amina likes tea coffee." — say "Amina likes tea and coffee.". and
Amina likes tea ___ coffee. She drinks both. (and / but / or) 答案: and — 她两个都喜欢,是在补充另一个想法,所以用 and。"
but = 转折
- Hiroshi likes coffee but not tea.
- The cafe is small but nice.
- Sofia wants to go but she is tired.
- Not "Hiroshi likes coffee and not tea." — say "Hiroshi likes coffee but not tea.".
Hiroshi likes coffee ___ he doesn't like tea. (but / and / because) 答案: but — 第二个想法和第一个正好相反,所以用 but。"
or = 选择
- Tea or coffee?
- We can walk or take the metro.
- Is Amina at home or at school?
Pick one drink: tea ___ coffee? (or / and / but) 答案: or — 你是二选一,不是两个都要,所以用 or。"
because = 原因
- Sofia is happy because it's Friday.
- They are tired because the class is long.
- Hiroshi is at home because he is sick.
- Not "Hiroshi is at home and he is sick." — say "Hiroshi is at home because he is sick.". because 放在原因前面(he is sick)。"
Hiroshi is at home ___ he is sick. (because / but / and) 答案: because — "He is sick" 是他在家的原因,所以用 because。"
I like coffee ___ I don't like tea. (but / and / or) 答案: but — 喜欢咖啡,不喜欢茶,两个想法是冲突的,所以用 but。"
Sofia sleeps early ___ she is tired. (because / but / or) 答案: because — 累了是她早睡的原因,所以用 because。"
