두 대상이 어떤 면에서 같다고 말할 때는 설명하는 말을 두 as 사이에 넣어요: as + 단어 + as. 단어에는 -er을 붙이지 않고 원래 형태 그대로 둬요.

Not "Amina is as taller as Lars." — say "Amina is as tall as Lars.". as ... as 안에서 단어는 원래 형태 그대로 써요: "as taller as"가 아니라 as tall as예요.
해 보세요: Hiroshi runs ___ his brother. (as fast as / as faster as / as fast than) 정답: as fast as — 사이에 들어가는 단어는 원래 형태를 유지해요: as fast as("as faster as"가 아니에요). 그리고 양쪽 모두 as를 쓰므로 두 번째도 "than"이 아니라 as예요: as fast as his brother.
not as ... as
한 대상이 다른 대상보다 덜하다고 말할 때는 not을 붙여요: not as + 단어 + as.
She is not as tall as her sister. (= shorter)
Today isn't as cold as yesterday. (= warmer)
This café isn't as busy as the one downtown.
해 보세요: Today isn't ___ yesterday. It's warmer. (as cold as / as colder as / as cold than) 정답: as cold as — as ... as 형태는 그대로 두고 not("isn't")만 붙여요: isn't as cold as yesterday. 단어는 원래 형태를 유지하고("colder"가 아니에요), 양쪽 모두 as를 쓰므로 두 번째도 "than"이 아니라 as예요.
as ... as일까요, -er than일까요?
고르기 전에 둘이 같은지, 아니면 한쪽이 더한지 생각해 보세요. 같을 때 → as + 원래 단어 + as. 한쪽이 더할 때 → -er / more ... than. 한쪽이 덜할 때 → not as ... as.
The same: Amina is as tall as Lars. (they measure the same)
One is more: Amina is taller than Lars.
One is less: Amina is not as tall as Lars. (= she is shorter)
Watch the word: it stays plain inside as ... as (as tall as), but takes -er with than (taller than).
Not "Amina is as tall than Lars." — say "Amina is as tall as Lars. / Amina is taller than Lars.". as는 as와 짝이고, -er은 than과 짝이에요. 둘을 섞어 쓰지 마세요.
해 보세요: Mei와 Sofia는 둘 다 키가 정확히 1.65미터예요. 어느 쪽도 더 크지 않아요. 측정한 수치가 서로 같은 두 대상에 알맞은 표현은 어느 것일까요? (Mei is as tall as Sofia. / Mei is taller than Sofia.) 정답: Mei is as tall as Sofia. — 수치가 같으므로 as + 원래 단어 + as를 써서 as tall as가 돼요. "Taller than"은 한쪽이 더 크다는 뜻인데 여기서는 그렇지 않아요.
해 보세요: My phone is ___ yours, but it isn't ___ that new one. (as new as … as expensive as / as newer as … as expensive than / as new than … as expensive as) 정답: as new as … as expensive as — 두 빈칸 모두 as + 원래 단어 + as 패턴을 써요. 따라서 as new as와 as expensive as가 돼요. 긍정문이든 "isn't" 뒤든 단어는 원래 형태를 유지하고 양쪽에 as를 써요.
