名詞の複数形 (A1)
複数形は2つ以上を表します。1匹の猫なら単数形です。2匹以上なら複数形になり、two cats とします。注意: two, three, four… のあとの語尾を忘れないようにしましょう。three cats ✓（three cat ✗ ではありません）。
複数形の意味
- one cat → two cats
- one book → some books
- one apple → many apples
- やってみよう: 1 book. Now five ___. (books / book / a book) 答え: books — Five は2つ以上なので、-s をつけて five books にします。
ほとんどの名詞: -s をつける
パターンを見てみましょう: book → books · car → cars · dog → dogs。ほとんどの名詞は -s をつけるだけです。

- dog → dogs
- やってみよう: I have three ___ at home. (dogs / doges / dog) 答え: dogs — ほとんどの名詞は -s をつけるだけです: dog → dogs。余分な e は不要で、「doges」にすると不要な音が増えてしまいます。
s, z, x, ch, sh のあと: -es をつける
名詞の終わりが s, z, x, ch, や sh のときは、語尾に -es をつけます: bus → buses · box → boxes · watch → watches。

- やってみよう: 1 box. Now two ___. (boxes / boxs / box) 答え: boxes — 語尾をつけるという着眼点は合っています。-x の後ろにつけるのは -s ではなく -es なので box → boxes になります。
- やってみよう: Remember the ending. She fixed two ___. (watches / watchs / watch) 答え: watches — 「Watch」は -ch で終わるので、複数形は -es をつけて watches になります。（s, z, x, ch, sh のあとの語尾は -es です。）
