The verb 'be' changes with the subject.
Quick tip: Ask who? first: I → am, one → is, more than one → are.
With I, use am. The short way is I'm.
With he, she, it — one person or one thing — use is.
With you, we, they — more than one — use are.
Look at the subject before you choose the word.
