Para hablar de personas o cosas en general, usa most + el sustantivo. Sin the, sin of.

Not "Most of people like pizza." — say "Most people like pizza.". Personas en general → solo most, sin of.
Pruébalo: ___ children love candy. (Most / Most of / The most) Respuesta: Most — Aquí hablamos de children en general, así que solo Most children. "Most of" necesita un grupo concreto después (most of the children), y "the most" es para el número uno.

Para hablar de un grupo concreto que señalas, usa most of + the / my / these.

Most of the students passed the test.
Most of my friends live nearby.
Most of these books are old.
Not "Most my friends live nearby." — say "Most of my friends live nearby.". Antes de the / my / these, necesitas of: most of my friends.
