Para decir que no con am, añade not: I'm not = I am not.

I'm not

• Not "I amn't ready." — say "I'm not ready.". Con I, la forma negativa es I'm not — "amn't" no existe.

¿Dónde va el not?

not va después de am / is / are.

Formas cortas: I'm, you're, he's, it's

isn't y aren't son formas cortas. am, is y are también tienen forma corta: I am → I'm, you are → you're, he is → he's, it is → it's. El apóstrofo ocupa el lugar de la letra que quitamos.

• Pruébalo: "Are you ready, Amina?" "Yes, ___ ready." (I'm / Im / I'am) Respuesta: I'm — I'm = I am. El apóstrofo ocupa el lugar de la a de am. "Im" se olvida del apóstrofo, y "I'am" mantiene entera la palabra am, así que no se acorta nada.
