You are tired. → Are you tired?
She is here. → Is she here?
They are ready. → Are they ready?
Not "You are tired? (this is still a statement)" — say "Are you tired? (now it asks)".
Probier es: You are tired. Mach daraus eine Frage. Antwort: Are you tired? — Bei einer Ja/Nein-Frage wandert die Form von be an den Anfang: Are you tired? „You are tired?“ ist immer noch ein Aussagesatz – die Wortstellung macht die Frage.
Mit dem Fragewort beginnen
Bei einer Frage mit where / what / who und be steht das Fragewort an erster Stelle, danach folgt die Form von be. Jedes Fragewort fragt nach etwas anderem: where fragt nach einem Ort, what nach einer Sache, who nach einer Person.
Amina is at home. → Where is Amina?
This is a cat. → What is this?
She is happy. → Who is happy?
Not "Where Amina is? (this is the statement order)" — say "Where is Amina? (question word first, then is)".
Probier es: Amina is somewhere. Frage, wo Amina ist. Antwort: Where is Amina? — In einer Frage steht is vor Amina: Where is Amina? „Where Amina is“ hat die Wortstellung eines Aussagesatzes.
Where is Amina? — She is at home.
What is this? — It is a cat.
Who is happy? — Amina is happy.
Where — asks about a place
What — asks about a thing
Who — asks about a person
Fragen, was Personen tun
Um zu fragen, was jemand tut, beginne mit dem Fragewort, dann do oder does, gefolgt von der Grundform des Tätigkeitsverbs. Nimm does bei he, she, it und do bei you, we, they. Das Fragewort kann where (ein Ort), what (eine Sache) oder when (eine Zeit) sein.
Amina lives somewhere. → Where does Amina live?
They live somewhere. → Where do they live?
Mei likes something. → What does Mei like?
Mei reads at some time. → When does Mei read?
Not "Where Amina lives? (this is the statement order)" — say "Where does Amina live? (with does, the action word is plain)".
be oder Tätigkeitsverb?
Schau dir zuerst den Satz an. Enthält er bereits is / are / am, ziehe diese Form von be an den Anfang: She is happy. → Is she happy? Steht dort ein Tätigkeitsverb wie work, live, read, nimm do oder does: She works. → Does she work?
She is happy. → Is she happy? (has is)
She works. → Does she work? (has an action word)
They are ready. → Are they ready? (has are)
They live here. → Do they live here? (has an action word)
Not "Is she work? (there is no be-word in "She works")" — say "Does she work? (an action word needs does)". Kein is / are / am im Satz? Dann nimm do oder does, keine Form von be.
Probier es: Make "She works." a question. Which one is correct? (Does she work? / Is she work? / Do she work?) Antwort: Does she work? — „She works“ enthält ein Tätigkeitsverb und kein is / are / am, also nimm does: Does she work? „Is she work?“ greift nach einer Form von be, die gar nicht im Satz vorkommt, und „Do she work?“ bräuchte does bei she.
Probier es: Make "She is happy." a question. Which one is correct? (Is she happy? / Does she happy? / Does she be happy?) Antwort: Is she happy? — „She is happy“ enthält bereits das be-Wort is, also ziehe es an den Anfang: Is she happy? Hier gibt es kein Tätigkeitsverb, does hat hier also nichts zu suchen.
Probier es: Amina lives somewhere. Frage, wo Amina wohnt. Antwort: Where does Amina live? — Beginne mit Where, dann does, dann die Grundform live: Where does Amina live?
Probier es: They live somewhere. Frage, wo sie wohnen. Antwort: Where do they live? — Bei they nimmst du do (nicht does): Where do they live? Hebe dir does für he, she, it auf.
Probier es: Mei reads at some time. Frage, wann Mei liest. Antwort: When does Mei read? — Beginne mit When, dann does, dann die Grundform read: When does Mei read?
