لتقول ترتيب أحد في الطابور، أو أيّ يوم من الشهر، استخدم first وsecond وthird. هذه الكلمات الثلاث لا تتبع القاعدة، فاحفظها كما هي.

النهاية بعد third
مع معظم الأرقام الأخرى، انظر إلى آخر كلمة في الرقم وأضف -th:
four → fourth
six → sixth
ten → tenth
حرف -y في النهاية يتحوّل أولًا إلى -ie: twenty → twentieth. وبعض الأرقام يتغيّر أكثر قليلًا، مثل five → fifth.
وبعد twenty يبدأ النمط من جديد، فتصبح twenty-one → twenty-first.
fourth /fɔːrθ/ — My class is on June fourth.
tenth /tenθ/ — The party is on the tenth.
twentieth /ˈtwen.ti.əθ/ — We meet on the twentieth.
twenty-first /ˌtwen.ti ˈfɜːrst/ — Her birthday is on the twenty-first.

birthday وdate of birth
الـ birthday هو اليوم الذي تحتفل فيه. والـ date of birth هو اليوم نفسه مكتوبًا في استمارة. وفي الولايات المتحدة يأتي الشهر أولًا: May 3 تُكتب 5/3.

كيف تقول السنة
تُقال السنة على نصفين، لا كرقم واحد كبير:
1998 → nineteen ninety-eight
2024 → twenty twenty-four
أما السنوات من 2000 إلى 2009 فتُقال كاملة: 2000 → two thousand.
